PROJECT INFORMATION

In 2017, Dbegotin Educational Foundation launched the Educate Nigeria Project as a crucial response to the mounting crisis of widespread out-of-school children, especially in underprivileged communities. This imperative action was prompted by the detrimental consequences of increased economic hardships, targeted attacks on places of learning, and outdated education development policies, all of which were contributing to a surge in the number of children deprived of educational opportunities. The negative outcomes of these factors included a deepening cycle of poverty, compromised community development, and an alarming rise in illiteracy rates among the youth.

WHY WE DO IT

Nigeria has approximately 20 million out-of-school children, with a substantial number in underserved areas facing inadequate infrastructure and poorly trained teachers. The Educate Nigeria Project seeks to transform this situation by improving access to quality education, breaking barriers in underserved communities, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive.

HOW WE CARRY IT OUT

Through a holistic approach involving school infrastructure development, teacher training, and community engagement, we strive to make education a top priority and create an environment conducive to learning. Our strategy includes building and renovating classrooms, providing teacher training workshops, conducting mass education enrollment, lobbying government stakeholders to prioritise education development and actively involving communities in the educational process.

Our Objectives

  • Improve access to quality education in under-served areas
  • Enhance the overall education ecosystem through infrastructure, teacher training, and learner safety and welfare
  • Increase school attendance and engagement in target areas

IMPACT (RESULT)

  • Reached 162 communities and local education centres through the Educate Nigeria Project, contributing to increased accessibility to quality education
  • Trained 2300 teachers, enhancing their effectiveness in delivering impactful education
