ABOUT DEF

We are transforming the landscape of education in Nigeria

Dbegotin Educational Foundation was born out of an urgent need to bridge the education gap in Nigeria which currently accounts for 45% of all out-of-school children in West Africa, with about 20 million out-of-school children of which 60% are girls.

Since 2018, Dbegotin Educational Foundation has been committed to the primary objective of ensuring children’s access to safe, affordable and quality education in underserved communities across in Nigeria. We create programmes and projects that support primary to secondary school-age children so they can learn, grow, and develop optimally, setting them on the path to a brighter future.

We collaborate with teachers, education leaders, families, community leaders, legislators, government agencies, the private sector, and civil society organizations to provide tech-driven innovative solutions that enhance learning and development for children, with most priority to those in fragile, conflict, and deprived areas.

Since our founding, Dbegotin Educational Foundation has implemented our educational programmes and initiatives in over 80 underserved communities in Nigeria and several others around the African continent. We now have over 50,000 educators, families, and children who have benefited from these programmes and a huge networks of youth volunteers and activists working together with us towards achieving our mission.

Letter from DEF’S Executive Director

I write to you in with a burning passion for the urgent cause we must address together. It is a call to action, a plea to rise above the challenges and make a lasting impact on the lives of millions of children in Nigeria.

The situation we face is nothing short of a national nightmare. More than 20 million children in our beloved country are denied the right to education. It is a heart-wrenching reality that must not be ignored. We have a moral obligation to step forward, to lead the way, and to champion the cause of improving access to quality education for personal and national development.

Education is not a luxury; it is a powerful tool that has the potential to shape destinies and change the course of Nigeria for better. It is through education that dreams are ignited, talents are nurtured, and societies are transformed. We cannot allow the dreams of these children to wither away, buried under the weight of indifference and neglect.

Together, we possess the power to break this cycle of despair. It is time for us to channel our collective strength, resources, and expertise towards solving this pressing challenge. Let us challenge the status quo, disrupt the norm, and pave a new path towards a future where no child is left behind. It is a future where education is accessible to all, regardless of their social or economic circumstances.

The time for action is now. Each passing day without action deepens the wounds inflicted upon these children and our nation. We cannot afford to stand idly by, knowing the immense potential that lies within each child, waiting to be unlocked.
Let us be the catalysts of change, the trailblazers who lead the way towards a brighter future. Together, we can create a Nigeria where every child has access to quality education, where dreams are nurtured, and where our nation’s progress is fueled by the knowledge and skills of its people.

The task ahead may seem daunting, but I have unwavering faith in our collective determination and resolve. Let us unite, shoulder to shoulder, as we embark on this transformative journey, for the sake of our children, our communities, and the future of our great nation.

With heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support. ~ Jeremiah Oseni (JP).
