Dbegotin Joins The United Nation Action Campaign to Act for The SDGs

As we end the Global Week to Act on the Sustainable Development Goals, Dbegotin Educational Foundation, in partnership with The Ebaidebheki Initiative, joined the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Action Campaign and mobilized a diverse group of young people to act on climate, justice, and peace. The event was held on Saturday, September 24th, 2022 at the Millennium Park in Abuja. At this event, we reflected on the SDGs, taking a critical look at where we are at the moment, and what the result could look like by 2030.

Participants at this event took turns narrating their understanding of the SDGs, the actions they are taking to achieve the goals, the challenges they have encountered along the way, and the proven solutions they have used to achieve better results.

Low inter-institutional collaboration, lack of adequate knowledge sharing, scattered data, over-concentration of the SDGs action in some locations, low funding, and lack of government support were among the challenges our participants mentioned. Young people also highlighted the fact that the government needs to be seen to really own the SDGs and plan national development goals in that line, and not merely see the blueprint as just another UN framework with a deadline.

Finally, it became clear that we needed to #FlipTheScript for more SDG actions now more than ever. As a matter of urgency, we must use different approaches, possibly conduct a “Midway Implementation Evaluation” on the goals, to proffer creative solutions that can help us achieve better results if we must make tangible progress in Nigeria by 2030.

Dbegotin Educational Foundation is committed to advocating for and providing a safe, equal, and quality education that solves problems for people and the planet. We pledge our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, using education as a tool to propagate the urgency of the SDGs in Nigeria towards achieving its desired results.

Let us join efforts to build a sustainable world. The Goals Will Work if We Do!
